Wesley works in critical care and finds the role of being an HCA both challenging and rewarding.
“I love being an HCA because…of the smiles. The best part of the day is when you help a patient and even if they cannot talk at that particular time; the big smile they give you helps you to know that all you do is very appreciated.”

“I love working with patients and families because…being truly helpful to everyone who needs you and not every person you help is a patient. I recently had a wonderful lady whom it was always a pleasure to stop by and say hello or to help out when needed, to tell her a joke or two to help take her mind off of her dressing change or the pain she may be experiencing at that time. The best part of her stay with our unit was the day her grandson came up to me and said, “Thank you for making my Nana smile.” This reward is better than any raise or commendation my unit could ever pass out.”
